This role is essential for developing the foundational dance skills, precision, and performance quality of our younger athletes. We are looking for a coach who can blend technical dance training with the spirit and tradition of Dobson High.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Instruction: Lead practices focused on pom technique, including turns (pirouettes, a la secondes), leaps, jumps, and synchronized arm placements.

  • Choreography: Create or teach engaging, age-appropriate pom and halftime routines for football and basketball games.

  • Game Day Leadership: Supervise and direct the JV and Freshman squads at athletic events, ensuring they are prepared, professional, and spirited.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the duties and responsibilities as stated in the primary administrative assignment and as stated below.   Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for successful performance
  • Provide a positive learning environment for the athletes
  • Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season in accordance with district policy and AIA regulations
  • Manage athlete behavior during training sessions and during meets or events
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and
  • facilities
  • Assist the athletic director, when necessary, in scheduling interscholastic contests where applicable
  • Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate
  • Maintain complete and accurate records as required (i.e. attendance forms, insurance 

records, file accident reports, etc.) competition in his/her sport   

 

  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility/area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times, especially, when students are present.

 

  • Follow district procedures in establishing performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his/her sport
  • Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students
  • Assumes primary responsibility for field or court preparation
  • Provide athletic director with team rosters as requested
  • Provide athletic director with end of year inventory as requested
  • Head Coach of each sport to provide athletic director the evaluation of coaches as requested
  • Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the School Board or Administration.  
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, as defined in District policy and regulations

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the appropriate supervisor in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policy.

Track and Field-Sprints Coach

Mountain View High School in Mesa is a large 6A High School and we are looking for a Track and Field Coach to work with our Sprinters.  The job would require you to work with all levels of sprinters from developing to elite and on both the boys and girls side of the team.  Our sprint numbers can range to up to 50 student athletes.  Candidate should have knowledge of starts and handoffs and an ability to communicate the expectations to the athletes.

We have had quite a bit of success in track and field regularly placing student athletes in both the Divisional and Open State Finals.  In fact we were D1 State Champions as recently as a few years ago.

The Athletic Coach will be responsible for providing a positive working relationship with students, faculty, staff, and parents. Responsibilities will include coaching student athletic programs and ensuring adherence to AIA guidelines.

  • Coach student athletes in area of assigned responsibility
  • Organize and supervise a total sports program
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff, faculty and parents.
  • Confirms that all athletes have met AIA and district eligibility requirements before participation in scheduled events.
  • Communicates team policies to all athletes (V, JV, FR)
  • Follows district and school drug/alcohol codes

OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:

Medium risk - Work is routinely performed in outdoor environments, including exposure to noise and being on your feet for extended periods of time. Requires standing in inclement weather including summer heat.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Valid Arizona teacher certification, or Arizona coaching certification, or Level 1 Certification issued by National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) (This requirement is only for Head/Varsity positions)
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities include planning and conducting practices, developing competitive strategies, mentoring and supervising assistant coaches, maintaining effective communication with students and families, and promoting sportsmanship, academic achievement, and a positive team culture.

Candidates must possess a valid Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card and have completed all required NFHS coaching certifications, including Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness Prevention, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Protecting Students from Abuse.
