Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, busses, and at all times during the season. Stress the importance of academics. Push the concept of pursuing victory with honor. Teach skills necessary for competition from the basics to advanced level depending on the athlete. Exercise patience, tolerance and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, officials, and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior, and interactions with our student athletes should be reflective of this. High school coaching experience preferred.

Position Summary

The Head Football Coach is responsible for providing leadership, organization, and direction for all aspects of the football program, including athlete development, supervision of coaching staff, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for student-athletes. 

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

• Oversee all phases of the football program.
• Hire, supervise and mentor assistant coaches.
• Uphold school athletic policies and ensure all staff meet required certifications. 

Athlete Development

• Foster skill development, sportsmanship, character growth and academic support. 
• Communicate effectively with players, parents and administration. 

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all players are properly cleared to  participate.
• Maintain safe practice and game environments following AIA and school regulations. 

Program Operations

• Organize and implement practice plans. 
• Manage equipment, inventory, and facilities. 
• Represent Mohave High School professionally with students, families, and the community. 

Qualifications

• Arizona Teaching Certificate and NFHS Level 1 coaching certification
• NFHS Fundamentals of coaching and concussion certification 
• Current First Aid and CPR Certification
• Ability to pass a background check and maintain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

  • Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment.

  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

  • Must pass a background check as required by the school district.

• Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.

  • Previous experience as a varsity or assistant coach.

  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.

  • Experience with student-athlete development programs.

Pool play games will be played at Mesa High School on Thursday, March 12th, Friday, March 13th, & Saturday March 14th.
