Head Cross Country Coach / Track & Field Long Distance Assistant Coach

Coaching or distance-running experience is preferred. Applicants must meet district and Arizona Interscholastic Association coaching requirements. The combined stipends total $3,750. A teaching position may also be available, depending on certification and district openings.

Purpose Statement:

The job of ATHLETIC DIRECTOR was established for the purpose/s of directing the athletics program and activities, providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines; and serving as a member of the leadership team.  

 

This job reports to HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects and programs; overseeing program financial activities; developing effective working relationships; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and administering personnel policies and procedures.


KNOWLEDGE is required to perform advanced math; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel processes; and standard business practices.


ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of

circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; and monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the Organization’s services. 

 

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

 

Experience Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education  Masters degree in job related area.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Make specific requests for equipment and supplies with help from the Assistant Coach. Assign priority based on safety, need and cost.
  • Manage care and distribution of equipment and supplies
  • Attend all meetings held by the Athletic Director and the League Chairperson.
  • Establish good public relations with parents, teachers, community, and the news media.
  • Report contest results to the Athletic Director.
  • Verify all practice/game fields are safe for players and spectators.
  • Have a well-developed coaching philosophy.
  • Have a “Plan for Success” that outlines expectations and discipline for the program.
  • Develop a year-round action plan for maximizing the potential of each athlete.
  • Other duties as assigned, including any pre or post-season responsibilities.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance card

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience as Coach
  • Previous classroom teaching experience

Format: The PXU Queens of the Court Winter Classic is 24 team tournament (4 game guarantee)
