Job Goal:
Assists in the development and oversight of the football team, players, and works to
collaboratively prepare team for competitive activities.


Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of students, staff, and fellow coaches
- Collegiate football playing experience preferred
- Two plus years of high school or college coaching experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of AIA High School Football rules and regulations
- Demonstrate values based leadership skills
- Ability to coach multiple positions and levels within the football program.


Core Job Functions
● Develop, instruct, and mentor a roster of qualified student-athletes.
● Develop position specific practice plans including drills to develop player skill,
technique, and understanding.
● Assist players and coaches in the establishing appropriate competitive and developmental
goals and objectives
● Support coaching staff with practice sessions, including outside-season camps & clinics.
● Communicate effectively with Head Coach, staff, students and parents.
● Engage program with the community through service and fundraising

DMHS Head Softball Coach

DMHS will be looking for a New Head Softball Coach.  DMHS has had a strong tradition and softball program over the past seven years with winning the 5A State Championship in 3 of the last 4 years (2023, 2024, and 2025).  In that time, we have had many softball players sign their National Letter of Intent to continue playing softball in college programs such as Emory, GCU, Northwestern, Penn State, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Yale, just to name a few.

 

The facility has gone through significant upgrades all thanks to the generous DMHS Boosters, DMHS Community, and DMHS/SUSD Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor student-athletes academically and personally, serving as a positive role model.
  • Maintain compliance with Great Hearts policies, league rules, and all safety and concussion protocols.

Qualifications

  • Previous cross country coaching or experience at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cross country fundamentals, specific techniques, and safety principles.
  • Ability to work with student-athletes of varying skill levels and developmental stages.
  • Alignment with the Great Hearts mission and commitment to character-focused coaching.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Consistent availability on school days at or after 3:30 PM for practices, meets, and team activities.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before the season begins).
  • Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card (may be in progress at time of hire).
  • Clean and professional background consistent with Great Hearts and school standards.

Compensation
This is a stipend-based position. Stipends vary based on experience, role, and availability.
