•Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times

•communicates the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard

•Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury

•Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student

•Follows state, regional, AIA and district regulations governing the athletic program

•Models sportsmanlike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators

Availability:

Candidates must be available to conduct morning practices during the week at 6:00am, work evenings during football and basketball seasons, and up to 5 weekends for various events, competitions, training, and camps. Spiritline tryouts begin in April.

 

Job Goal:

To provide leadership in assisting each participating student in achieving a high level of skill, fostering values of discipline and sportsmanship, and promoting increased self-esteem. The role involves instructing student athletes in specific sports activities while upholding the principles of Catholic faith.

  • Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior among athletes, establishing appropriate penalties for breaches of conduct.

  • Provide necessary documentation such as team rosters and end-of-year inventory to the athletic director.
  • Evaluate assistant coaches and provide feedback as requested by the athletic director.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Men's Varsity Basketball Coach for American Leadership Academy West Foothills. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of our men's varsity basketball program, fostering an environment of skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and competitive basketball program, including practice plans, game strategies, and player development initiatives.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering their personal and athletic growth both on and off the court.

  • Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, athletic department, boosters and student government as well as other staff members to ensure the well-being of student-athletes.

  • Collaborate with other sports head coaches to allow students the opportunity to play multiple sports/build a successful culture surrounding athletics. 

  • Maintain open and effective communication with players, parents, school administrators, and the community.

  • Ensure compliance with all school, district, and AIA regulations and policies.

  • Represent the school and the basketball program with professionalism and integrity at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience coaching basketball at the high school level or above.

  • Possession of an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain one prior to employment).

  • NFHS Level One Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe).

  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and coaching techniques.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and other sports coaches

  • Uphold high ethical standards and a commitment to sportsmanship and fair play.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in building and sustaining a competitive basketball program.

  • Experience with Maxpreps, NFHS or Hudl.

  • Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules and processes.
