Cactus Shadows High School is looking for a Athletic Trainder for the 2024/2025 school year.

 

SUMMARY:  Organizes and maintains all aspects of the athletic training program for the high school.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Provides emergency first aid care to student-athletes.
  • Determines if a player is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice if the player is injured.
  • In cooperation with the team physician/family physician/attending physician, acts as a liaison and provides:
  • Examination, recognition, evaluation and testing of athletic injuries;
  • Referrals to hospitals/emergency rooms/urgent care facilities/ appropriate physician;
  • Follow-up treatment through the use of available therapeutic modalities;
  • Rehabilitation and recondition procedures;
  • Measures to prevent injury and recurrence of injury;
  • Educates, counsels and advises coaches and student-athletes in the aspects of proper maintenance of daily health habits (i.e. diet, nutrition, rest, substance abuse, etc.) and the practice of athletic training.
  • Assists and advises the coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment.
  • Maintains accurate injury/treatment records.
  • Maintains comprehensive files on each student-athlete, including physical examinations AIA forms, medical history and separate injury reports.
  • Reviews and evaluates available health records of student-athletes.  Advises physical education instructors of any athletic injury related problems that may require special consideration/modification of classes.
  • Supervises the utilization of the facilities and equipment needed by the student-athlete for any treatment/rehabilitation of athletic related injuries.
  • Supervises requisitioning, storage and inventory of all necessary equipment and supplies. 
  • Submits an annual budget for all first aid and medical supply needs for the year.
  • Monitors the safety of athletic facilities and equipment to prevent injury.
  • Conducts safety audits.
  • Provides athletic training services at home events.
  • Reports any unsafe practices, conditions or facilities to the appropriate school administrator.
  • Provides in-services for all staff on athletic emergency procedures.
  • Attends all school/district staff meetings and in-services.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse student population, including those with various handicaps and special needs. 

DESIRED:
Master's degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences from an accredited institution.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid certificate issued by the National Athletic Training Association.
  • AND a Valid license issued by the Arizona Board of Athletic Trainers.

•Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student

•Follows state, regional, AIA and district regulations governing the athletic program

•Models sportsmanlike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators

•Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations
