Purpose Statement

The job of POMS/DANCE COACH -HIGH SCHOOL was established for the purpose/s of designing and implementing various routines for the Poms Squad in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to the student activity; overseeing dance line volunteers; providing supervision of student participants during all aspects of the program; using sound instructional techniques in overseeing the dance line activities; serving as a positive role model to student participants; and may serve in a liaison capacity for the school and dance line program with other schools both within and/or outside the district. Essential Functions

  • Analyzes a variety of routines for the purpose of identifying those that best match students' strengths.
  • Assesses student participants for the purpose of providing feedback to students on their individual performance and/or determining squad placement and routines for try outs.
  • Conducts a variety of supporting activities (e.g. parent orientations, recognition events, banquets, etc.) for the purpose of providing information regarding the program and/or recognizing participants' accomplishments.
  • Develops squad and individual practice regimes for student participants (e.g. routines, exercise, nutritional, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing and improving their performance.
  • Develops strategies/plans for the purpose of preparing the pom squad for competitions.
