  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.

  • Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.

  • Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.

  • Potentially drive athletes using district transportation to and from off campus games on 14 passenger Activity Bus and provide proof of insurance as requested.

The program is a young group, returning all of its wrestlers from the previous year including multitime state qualifiers. In addition there is also a strong middle school program on campus with Middle school state placers moving up. We have a brand new Mat just purchased last season and all new uniforms. POSITION OBJECTIVEPosition is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

  • Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
  • Assesses player’s skills and assigns team positions.
  • Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Works with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
  • Assigns duties to assistant coaches as necessary.
  • Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes players, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Determines game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes.
  • Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.
  • Follows state, regional, AIA and district regulations governing the athletic program.
  • Models’ sportsmanlike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Works with the athletic director to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  • Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
  • Potentially drive athletes using district transportation to and from off campus games on 14 passenger Activity Bus and provide proof of insurance as requested.
  • Models’ nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

·         Prior coaching experience preferred

·         Must be at least 21 years of age.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

 

·    Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)

·    Arizona Teaching Certificate OR Arizona Coaching Certificate (Preferred not required)

·    NFHS Level I Certification (Includes Concussion in Sports, Fundamentals of Coaching, Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Protecting Students from Abuse)

·    NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety Certificate / CPR

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach for American Leadership Academy West Foothills. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of our men's and womens wrestling program, fostering an environment of skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and competitive wrestling program, including practice plans, strategies, and  development initiatives.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering their personal and athletic growth both on and off the matt

  • Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, athletic department, boosters and student government as well as other staff members to ensure the well-being of student-athletes.

  • Collaborate with other sports head coaches to allow students the opportunity to play multiple sports/build a successful culture surrounding athletics. 

  • Maintain open and effective communication with players, parents, school administrators, and the community.

  • Ensure compliance with all school, district, and AIA regulations and policies.

  • Represent the school and the wrestling program with professionalism and integrity at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience coaching wrestling at the high school level or above.

  • Possession of an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain one prior to employment).

  • NFHS Level One Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe).

  • Strong knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, strategies, and coaching techniques.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and other sports coaches

  • Uphold high ethical standards and a commitment to sportsmanship and fair play.
